Day Three At Cardigan

Day 3 Region

This was the last day at Cardigan. Today we would go to the Welton Falls. Most groups did this on the first day but we saved it for last. The day started with us all meeting downstairs for breakfast. When we finished breakfast we left right from that to get our hiking boots on. We met like we did yesterday at the front of the AMC Lodge. Our tour guide found us and we were off.

As we walked we played a game that we had done last night by the fire. The rules of this game were you were given a word and you had to sing a part of a song that had that word in it. If you could not think of one you would be skipped and out of that round. We played this game the whole mile and a half walk non stop. We had finally reached the falls. This region was full of mountains and streams many dried streams. The falls were hard to see because we were so high up and if you got to close to the edge you would fall off. We walked further down where we could see the falls but discovered a nice area to play on the rocks in the water. I had fallen so many times that my shoes were soaked, good thing for waterproof hiking boots. We played and played for about half an hour till we got bored and headed back up to find another stream. Another half an hour later we found a stream with so many glacial potholes so we stopped to sketch like normal. This was the best part the alone hike. This was to test what we had learned for three days straight of hiking. I was third to last and finally I was off. I followed the yellow markers leading me to where the rest of the group had been waiting. I had made it all by myself not getting lost. That was a first.

That was the end it was time to go back. No one wanted to, we were having so much fun. When we finally got back the the lodge all the stuff was in the trailer and we said by to the AMC Lodge guides and headed home. What a blast. I had learned a lot from this experience and could not have asked for a better time.
